Changes to TLS/SSL certificate management procedures

In a context of continuously strengthening cybersecurity requirements, Ciril GROUP is upgrading its TLS/SSL certificate management procedures in order to guarantee its customers optimal security, reliability, and quality of service.

 

A strengthened international security framework

The CA/Browser Forum, a leading organization bringing together browser publishers and certification authorities, recently made a major decision (Ballot SC081v3):
to gradually reduce the validity period of TLS certificates, which will be reduced to 47 days.

This change aims to enhance the security of digital exchanges, but it also leads to a significant increase in the frequency of certificate renewals, with major operational impacts.

 

A change in scope to guarantee service quality

In order to continue providing services that meet the highest standards of security and operational control, Ciril GROUP has decided to refocus the management of TLS/SSL certificates on the environments it hosts directly.

As of March 31, 2026, Ciril GROUP will no longer offer TLS/SSL certificate provision, installation, and renewal services for:

  • environments hosted on customers' own infrastructure (on-premise),

  • environments hosted by third-party providers.

The customers concerned will therefore need to organize the management of their TLS/SSL certificates with their internal teams or their hosting provider.

 

No impact for solutions hosted by Ciril GROUP

For customers whose solutions are hosted within Ciril GROUP's infrastructure, this change will not affect them in any way.
The management of TLS/SSL certificates (purchase, installation, renewal) remains fully supported, automated, and compliant with current security requirements.

In order to guarantee the expected security, reliability, and quality of service, Ciril GROUP has chosen to refocus this service on the environments it hosts.

Am I affected by this change?

This applies to you if:

  • your solution is hosted on your own infrastructure, or
  • Your solution is hosted by a third-party provider,
    , and Ciril GROUP currently manages your TLS/SSL certificates.

This does not apply to you if your solution is hosted in a Ciril GROUP data center with associated services.

When does this change take effect?

This change will take effect on March 31, 2026, to give you enough time to organize the transition under the best possible conditions.

What should I do if I am affected?

You will need to organize the management of your TLS/SSL certificates:

  • either with your internal technical teams,
  • either with your web host or third-party provider,
  • either by relying on a certificate automation solution (e.g., ACME).

Can I continue to benefit from certificate management by Ciril GROUP?

Yes, if you host your solutions within Ciril GROUP's infrastructure.
In this case, complete certificate management (purchase, renewal, installation) remains included according to the contractual terms and conditions in force.
