Our history: evolution in the service of innovation and expertise
1978
The origins of the company
Since its foundation in 1978, Ciril GROUP has forged a path of excellence and innovation in software publishing. Initially created under the name Ciril, the group began its commercial activity in 1979 by equipping French local authorities with tailor-made solutions to improve their information systems. This first step laid the solid foundations for our expertise in business process modernization and data management.
1997 - 1998
Consolidating solutions for local authorities
With the acquisition of Sincir in 1997 and O2i in 1998, both specialized software publishers for local authorities, Ciril GROUP strengthened its position as a strategic partner to the French public sector.
2001
Cartography at the heart of territorial issues
In 2001, we created a subsidiary specifically dedicated to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), formerly known as Business Geografic. This initiative marked a strategic turning point, making cartography a central tool for meeting territorial challenges and issues. The company continued to grow with public and private organizations, in France and abroad, until it merged with Ciril at the end of 2015.
2006 - 2009
Diversification and growth of the High-Security Cloud
In 2006, Ciril GROUP opened up to the private market, continuing its drive to develop cross-functional solutions for a wide range of sectors. Three years later, in 2009, we took a major step forward with the launch of our cloud hosting business, Ciril GROUP Cloud (formerly SynAApS), inaugurating our first data center, a secure, certified infrastructure.
2012 -2015
Enhanced expertise and international recognition
In 2012, Ciril GROUP subsidiary Business Geografic integrated Simalis, publisher of the DynMap GIS engine, thus strengthening its expertise in this field. Two years later, in 2014, Business Geografic will acquire I²G, specialized in business solutions and GIS projects, while celebrating a key milestone: the addition of our 150th GIS reseller to our global partner network. That same year, SynAApS (now Ciril GROUP Cloud) achieves ISO 27001:2013 certification, confirming our commitment to data security. In 2015, SynAApS (now Ciril GROUP Cloud) officially became a Health Data Authorized Host (HADS), an essential step in offering reliable solutions that comply with regulatory requirements.
2016
A unified identity and renewed ambition
2016 marks a fundamental turning point with the regrouping of all our activities - Ciril, Business Geografic and SynAApS - under a single legal entity and a common identity: Ciril GROUP. This development embodies our determination to provide a unified offering, integrating software, GIS and cloud solutions to meet all our customers' challenges. That same year, we were awarded a Franco-European grant (EUROSTAR program) for the development of a geo-decisional innovation program, reinforcing our position as a key player in this market.
2019 -2020
International expansion and strategic diversification
With the opening of our Montreal office in 2019, we are strengthening our presence in the North American market. The acquisitions of Emc3 (GéoClip) and Territoires & Marketing in 2019, followed by those of GiSmartware (NetGEO) and Oxio (AnalySDIS) in 2020, enrich our portfolio of innovative business solutions.
